There are many problems faced by women today. One of the problems faced is that of skin problems. Very often, one would spend lots of money on facial but do not bother to put on make-up. A number of them have not really known the importance of wearing make-up and seem to lack basic skin-care knowledge; whilst some of them were misled by others.

A few lucky ones are born with great flawless skin but have taken it for granted and do not take extra steps to own the beautiful skin bestowed to them by birth for the many years to come. They then try all means to find a cure to whiten up the fair skin they have abandoned during their youth days.

The aim of this workshop is to show you how with simple DIY steps, you can slow down the aging process and how to use make-up to enhance one’s features including the right choice of colors that suit your skin tone. At the end of the session, participants are expected to know how to do their own personal make-up and should be able to do so in 10 overtime.

TOP 10 SKIN PRODUCTS

Before you can devise the best regime for yourself and give your skin some special care,you need to understand what the main skincare products are designed to do.

The key treatments
From the old soap and water cleansing routine,today's skincare has evolved into a modern range of products.

Facials washes
These liquids are designed to be lathered with water to dissolve grime,dirt and stale make-up from the skin's surface.

Cleansing bars
Ordinary soap is too drying for most skins.Now you can foam up with these special bars,which will cleanse your skin without stripping it of moisture.They're refreshing for oilier skin type and help keep pores clear and prevent pimples and blackheads.

Cream cleanser
A wonderful way to cleanse drier complexions,they generally have a light,fluid consistency that spreads more easily on the skin.They contain oil to dissolve surface dirt and makeup and can be quickly removed with cottan wool (cottan).

Toners and astringents
Refreshing and cooling your skin,they quickly evaporate after being applied with cottan wool.They can also remove excess oil from the surface layers of your skin.The word "astringents" means it has a higher alcohol content and is suitable only for oily skin.The word "tonic" and "toner" mean that they're useful for normal or combination skins as they are gentler.Those with dry and sensitive skins should avoid this products as they can be too drying.Generally,if the products stings your face,move on to a gentler foundation or weaken it by adding a few drops of distilled water(available from a pharmacist)

Moisturizers
The key function of a moisturizer is to form a barrier film on the skin's surface to prevent moisture loss.This makes the skin feel softer and smoother.Generally,the drier your skin the thicker the moisturizer you should choose.All types skin need a moisturizer and one of the most valuable ingredients to look for is a UV filter.This ensures your moisturizer will give your skin year-round protection from the burning rays of the sun.

Eye makeup remover
Ordinary cleanser aren't usually sufficient to remove stubborn eye makeup,which is why these special products are so useful.If you wear waterproof mascara you will probably need to check that the cleanser you use is designed to remove it.

TIPS TO APPLYING FOUNDATION

* A cosmetic sponge helps you manage and apply foundation easily and gives a better and smoother result.Blend the cream foundation smoothly using the sponge in long,sweeping motions.
* Foundation needs to be blended properly,especiallly under the jaw line,into the hairline,on the ear lobes,corners of the nose and mouth and over and under the eyes,so that they don't let on the different thet the foundation makes to your skin.
* To retouch a particular spot,reapply the foundation there lightly and blend it with the rest of the face.Then powder lightly with translucent powder to let it set.
